Facilities Officer – Campus Physical Development and Services – Dubai/ Abu Dhabi
The Opportunity:
Under the direction of the facilities manager, position-holder is responsible for campus operation and maintenance of HVAC , plumbing , firefighting & Electrical facilities services, performing both preventive and curing maintenance schedules, responding to emergencies related to these facilities , as well as liaises with various departments within the University with regards to preparation for special events on campus and to Provides furniture set-up, arranging storages spaces as assigned by the manager and to carries out any other project or assignment related to facilities as required.
The Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring utility consumption, collation of consumption figures, and update records as required
- Follow and optimize the energy consumption and implement measures for further saving when and where required.
- Integrate and communicate effectively with other trade staff (Electrical, Mechanical and Civil) as required.
- Participate in emergency on-call service during non-working hours, weekends and public holidays
- Work alone with minimum supervision and/or within a team responsible to the supervisor.
- Participate in project work including refurbishment of existing building equipment/systems and/or new installations
- Provide effective communication with management, peers, contractors, subcontractors, project subcontractors
- Review, control and approval of MEP subcontractors work procedures and method statements
- Provides furniture set-up and storage as assigned by Manager and Coordinator.
- Liaises with various departments within the university with regards to preparation for special events on campus as assigned by manager or coordinator.
- Is involved with the installation and relocation of workstations, furniture, and indoor plants.
- Assists in general maintenance works and oversees the work of external maintenance contractors as per supervisor’s instructions.
- Receives employees’ requests for maintenance and attends to it as organized by the Manager and Coordinator.
- Carries out any other project or assignment related to the position as required.
- Ensuring that the MEP subcontractor provides and adheres to the necessary control documentation in an orderly way
- Produce a report of performance of MEP-contractors
- Carry out other duties as directed by the line management
- Working with the facility management company on energy saving.
- Assist in parking Management including handling daily violation (in booting the vehicles and release the vehicle after payments done).
- Assist & provide physical support in Male & Female students lockers on daily basis like locker incident, clearance for the suspended/withdrawal/graduated students and coordinate with the lost & found with regards to lockers issue.
- Assist Finance Inventory Control with stock control and inventory of university assets.
- House keeping.
- General maintenance and for facilities services knowledge performing both preventive and curing maintenance and responding to emergencies related to facilities.
- Responsible for arranging setup for events, exhibition and conferances.
- Responsible for arranging setup for exams.
- Report any accident/incident at campus.
- Inspect faculty/staff offices and send the report to facilities coordinator.
- Follow up with cleaning, security, MEP and landscape service providers for daily work & any complaints.
Assists in Inspecting and reporting on the following:
- General electrical systems related issues (through the FM Company)
- General electrical installations, wiring boxes, switches covers, sockets and other accessories
- Fire alarms
- All plumbing systems (including fixtures, pipes, fittings & pumps)
- Irrigation & landscaping systems
- Water tanks & water supply
- All keys(for doors, work stations, offices, drawers)
- All other building facilities
The Requirements:
Should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and advanced technical or vocational training in HVAC or Electrical technology and minimum 2 years relevant experience in installation and maintenance related work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent knowledge of Electro-Mechanical equipment.
Working knowledge of Arabic and English are an asset.
