KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the department
  • Lead the evaluation of existing electrical systems on cranes, including PLCs, drives, SCADA, HMIs, and low-voltage distribution
  • Define specifications and select upgraded components from Siemens, ABB, Fuji, or equivalent suppliers
  • Final approval of the design documentation and accountability for the released design
  • Verify & approve the cost estimates for the projects in cooperation with Engineers and Project Managers
  • Conduct design reviews of port equipment with respect to electrical and automation design and safety standards.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts for port cranes and manufactured products projects.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, ISO, IEEE, and other relevant standards in all design activities.
  • Select and specify electrical components, including motors, drives, sensors, and control systems.
  • Review, validate, and approve PLC, VFD, and SCADA system updates to the latest OEM versions
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers and other team members to ensure the integration of electrical systems into port crane designs.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for electrical issues related to port cranes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the port electrical infrastructure and the interface between port equipment.
  • Prepare electrical layouts, drawings, and schematics for reefer racks design, manufactured products, and upgrade projects.
  • Perform the following but not limited to
    • Work closely with Product Development team to perform requested activities
    • Assist the Lead Engineer in preparing the technical specifications and project estimations, liaise with subcontractors to prepare the offer.
    • Provide expert guidance to senior and junior engineers, offering technical leadership and mentorship
    • Proficiency in the design of substation, switchgear, cable sizing and scheduling
    • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Thorough knowledge on the Electrical design standards
    • Preparation of required method statements and risk assessments.
    • Liaise with procurement to follow up on the project materials for prompt deliveries.
    • Preparation of technical inspection reports, and documentation of the projects during final handover with punch list works resource and cost allocation.
  • Ensure that the highest level of safety is applied in all WCS activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Implement and monitor WCS’ HSE compliance policy.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience

8+ years in electrical design, automation, or modernization projects in cranes or heavy-industry machinery

  • Proven experience in crane PLC/drive/SCADA system integration and upgrades on OEM side 
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and similar design tools
  • Approval and sign off on the design documentation – accountability for the design works
  • Good communication skills to work in cross functional teams during project development & delivery 
  • Ensure the prepared designs meet all Customer requirements and relevant Standards 
  • Technical knowledge of Electrical design on Switchgear, transformer
  • Ability to conduct sizing calculations for electrical systems, motors, and transformers based on expected operational features.
  • Strong knowledge of Siemens, ABB, Fuji PLCs, drives, and SCADA systems
  • Proficiency in electrical system design and low-voltage distribution
  • Thorough knowledge on the Electrical standards
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including circuits, power systems, control systems, and motor drives.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software.
