Job Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Support Assistant to provide remote administrative support for Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility operations. This position focuses on patient care coordination, scheduling management, and electronic recordkeeping, directly supporting veterans while maintaining high operational and confidentiality standards.
Primary Accountabilities

Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments in strict accordance with established VA scheduling guidelines.

Manage high-volume incoming patient telephone calls and efficiently route medical inquiries to the appropriate clinical staff.

Verify, update, and audit patient demographic profiles and insurance coverage details.

Input and maintain precise records within electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure data integrity.

Coordinate seamlessly with clinical teams to optimize patient flow and track necessary follow-up care.

Adhere to strict document confidentiality procedures and HIPAA-compliant practices when handling sensitive patient health information.
Skills & Experience Required

Geographic Constraint: Candidates must currently reside in Etowah County, Alabama (residency verified during the hiring process).

Professional Background: Minimum of 1 year of proven clerical or administrative experience working inside a healthcare facility or related medical environment.

Technical & Workspace Setup: Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, private, HIPAA-compliant home workspace.

Compliance: Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive federal background investigation.

Scheduling Flexibility: Capacity to work flexible Monday–Friday shifts (such as 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM) based on target facility time zones.
